Halo 3

Hey folks,

On Monday night a mate of mine came round to play a bit of 360 online (his net is le gay) and when he was over I found out the Halo 3 Midnight Launch was happening tonight and he was going. I thought hmmmm okay with the Brownlow on I was going to stay up anyway so I said I would go. The guy who came around left at about 10:30pm to catch up with his brother and play Magic (not a bad game I must say, brings out the obsessive compulsive MUST HAVE EVERY CARD thing in me :P ) so I continued to watch the Brownlow count. Come 11:30pm I headed out and SMS my mate you told me about it that I am heading of. Got to about Dromana (so 5 mins travelling) and got a SMS saying he was too tired and wasn't going anymore. What a bloody pussy. Anyhoo I carried on and met up with my mate you came over at the Electronic Bouteque store where the launch was happening. It wasn't very partish, more like 50 odd people (some where school kids from the school I work at :o ) standing around watching 4 people play Halo 3 on a big screen before the official midnight selling time. I must admit though if it was partish I don't think I could stand people dressing up as Master Chief and getting all excited about a Xbox 360 game.

I had zero expectations for the game so I could be nothing but impressed. I had played the previous two entires briefly back in the day when my mates had Xbox 1s. Played the Multiplayer first and was pretty impressed. I was getting flogged but I started to get used to the controls and was having alot of fun. The VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) makes it 2 times better when you can hear people cheer and cuss :D . The single player is okay but nothing in comparision to the storylines of Metal Gear Solid series or Half Life series on the PC. The coolest feature I find is the Theatre mode; your most recent multiplayer sessions (and maybe singleplayer, haven't checked) are recorded and you can go back and record video and take screenshots from the replays of which you have full control of what you see. Total control over the camera, the speed of the replay, the direction of replay etc etc. Its tops!

I'll leave you with a screenshot taken of my ingame character mid-reload of his two Spiker machine pistols...

Top Gear revs back into action for a new series. In the opening episode, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May revisit their attempt to build amphibious cars and face up to one of their biggest – and choppiest – challenges to date.

The Audi R8 attacks the Top Gear track and Dame Helen Mirren is the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.

I cannot wait!

Thats all for today ^_^

Section9 Steam Community Page

Hey all,

Just found out through some computer magic even though I swapped my Steam account to a friend of mine because I was not using it (he gave me his) I still have a DXPetti steam account. I was under the impression that they were tied to email addresses (and my first one was tied to a non existant hotmail address from my early days) but alas I tried logging in with a user/password combo I have and bang-a-lang it worked albit no games activated (but the Orange Box will fix that). I tried out all the new steam coolness like profile pages and community pages and decided to create one for the clan I help run.

RIP Colin McRae

Cannot believe this but this morning I found out that the Scottish Daredevil Colin McRae has died in a helicopter crash. Colin McRae is a retired WRC driver and was the man who got me interested in the WRC and eventually Subaru's. Its sad to see the WRC lose another of its legends. First Richard Burns (who died of Cancer) and now Colin McRae.

From Colin McRae Wikipedia Article

Colin Steele McRae, MBE (born 5 August 1968 in Lanark) is a Scottish former World Rally Championship driver, the son of five-time British Rally Champion, Jimmy McRae. He won the world driver's title in 1995, was championship runner-up in 1996, 1997 and 2001, and third in 1998.
He helped Subaru to the Manufacturers' title in 1995, 1996 and 1997, and Citroën in 2003. He was awarded the title of MBE (Member of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1996. It has been reported that McRae was killed in a helicopter crash on 15 September 2007 but the identity of the victim(s) has yet to be confirmed by police.

RIP

Blu Ray Goodness

Hey all,

I know, I only posted a few minutes ago but I am really excited about some recent purchases I have made.

Firstly, to make these purchases I finally bit the bullet and got myself a credit card. I am pretty good with handling money so I am confident I will not fall into a hole of debt like so many I have seen in recent times. With the CC in hand I shot off to Amazon.com and got myself these 3 Blu Ray titles...

Blade Runner 5 Disc Complete Collectors Edition (Blu Ray)The Departed (Bluray)300 (Blu Ray)

I always wanted to watch the movie Blade Runner but last year I heard there was a final collectors edition with another alternate version of the movie coming out so I held of getting the Directors Cut on DVD. I was to'ing and fro'ing between getting the "Complete Collectors Edition" which is the 5 disc set or the "Ultimate Collectors Edition" which comes in a Briefcase and mimics the main characters one and comes with all sorts of collectibles geared at the masses of Blade Runner diehards but I thought I have never seen the movie before so its a bit wrong for me to get the very limited edition that only diehards will cherish.

The Departed I saw on Foxtel a few months ago and was expecting nothing and after watching it wanted more. It was a great story of corruption on both sides of the fence and lots of twists, turns and backstabbings which always makes great cinema. I might get the Hong Kong film on which The Departed is based off later on but for now I'll stick with the remake :)

And then there is 300. No one who has seen the movie needs a explanation on why you would purchase such a movie. Its a visual onslaught to the eyes and despite being an action flick comes with a fairly meaty story of corruption, love and even growing up the Sparten way (which pretty much means your thrown out into the woods and if you survive, well done).

Thats it for me, see ya next time.

(oh and like the new theme, already customised it with some Yoko Kumada goodness :) )

Veeeeeeeeeeeee 2

Hey all,

I recently got a email telling me my domain (and hosting) is up for renewel so I took this oppotunity to move the server from Dreamhost (which I had no access to because Shan was the one who created it) to MD Webhosting which currently provides hosting/domain for the clan I help run Section9. And now it seems the majority of DNS servers around the world have propergated and are pointing to the new server.

Its great to be back (cannot believe it has been a whole year already) and hopefully I can get around to posting alot more on this blog.
