Mmmmm rubber
Hey all,
I was kind of expecting this thing to go down for various reasons so I have been ignoring it but now that it hasn't its time to blog again.
On Wednesday my Impreza went in for its 87,000km service (even though I have only racked upto 68,000km on the clock). The guys from the service centre phoned me to tell me two nails have been found in one of my rear tyres
and that all the tyres are on their last legs and need to be replaced. Firstly the nails isn't really unexpected; at work roughly 3 months ago where myself and a few teachers park in the summer time got a new pine fence constructed near it and a few of the teachers copped flat tires after they finished their work. I thought I was lucky and got away with it but apparently not so...
So I was left with a rear tyre that was patched up and all four tyres about to die. I did some research and found the Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001s. These are a brand new model that superseeds the GIIIs and the S-01 Pole Position and I have heard plenty of good things about the two that preceeded the RE001s so I decided to dig up some user critic about teh RE001s. Found nothing but good so my mind was set. I (sorry my mother) rang around and found the best price and got them in the end from a Bridgestone dealership XD. I informed my local Subaru Service Centre of the price because he wanted to know if their prices were competetive or not which I though was pretty honest of them.
With new tyres I decided to give them a little testing. Weather: Cloudly and West, Road: Coastle and Windy! And let me tell you these things are definately one up on my Michelins that I had on before. The difference in braking gripness alone was an immediate shock to the system. When I first touched the brakes I wasn't expecting any difference but these things crunched down on the tar like a tiger with titanium claws. Money well spent. Next up for my car is a shortshift kit and firmer springs from STi that will lower my cars height (and I am not talking nigger p.i.m.p style height more like circuit racing lowering nothing stupid) and should really reduce the body roll.
I have decided to sell my current 55-200mm lense for my DSLR camera as its really not suitable for the kind of photography I currently do (which is up close to the subject). Hopefully I will get close to 75% of my money back and put it towards a nice 18-200mm VR lense which will cover everything. I also plan very long down the track to get a fixed zoom 15mm to 20mm lense for travelling when I get around to it.
Also I need to sell my old Sony 5.1 Reciever. I don't expect to get much from it, say around 100-200 bucks but its a heck of alot better than nothing. There is nothing wrong with the Reciever, and would be great to hook up to a DVD player in a back room to add crisp 5.1 sound a low budget home theatre. But my needs for High Definition products (like PS3, X360, Blu Ray etc) have made me upgrade to my current beast.
